Safety Features in Portable Generators
Using portable generator is a convenient solution to problems faced during an electrical outage. However, the best portable generator should be safe enough for our usage, and should be equipped with a number of features to protect us from the dangers associated with electricity and its use. All portable generators should have a circuit breaker embedded into the system.
This circuit breaker functions the same way a circuit breaker works for a household, it cuts the circuit off when too much electric current is passing through an appliance or a short circuit has occurred. This is done to avoid damage and possible electrocution.
Besides a circuit breaker, a disconnect breaker is also usually found on most portable generators. This safety feature has a similar function to a circuit breaker, and switches the generator off in the case of a short curcuit or power overload in the system.
With this double safety system, it is safer to use in the case of any mishaps. Although portable generators are useful and handy to be used, caution should always be adviced during the use of one to avoid anything untoward from happening.
In the Middle of Nowhere
I still remember the spine-chilling night we spent in the middle of a forsaken town. We were lost and we had nothing but a piece of useless map and some sandwiches left from our picnic. But, thank God, my husband and I still had each other.
After driving in the endless road for hours, we gave up and decided to put a night there. As I think back, we should not have left our best handheld GPS at home. We were just being overconfident.
We had no problem at all on our way there, but when we were coming back, we forgot the route. The night was cold. Strange noises were coming from everywhere. Only the fainting streetlights were shining on us.
The only warmth we have was from each other. Only we realized how good it is to be home. The night felt like eternity and the sun did not seem to rise. I vow I would never leave my GPS at home anymore.
